“Indonesian University Grants PhD Scholarship to ASA University Bangladesh”

In a major bid to open up new horizons in international higher education, research, and knowledge exchange, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP), Indonesia, and ASA University Bangladesh (ASAUB). The MoU was formally signed at 11:00 am on Saturday (25 July) at the ASA University Bangladesh campus. Professor Dr S. M. Rezaul Karim, Vice-Chancellor of ASAUB, and Professor Dr Yulkifli, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at UNP, signed on behalf of their respective institutions.

Under the terms of this MoU, both universities will collaborate across education, research, community service, human resource development, and various academic initiatives of mutual interest. Key areas of partnership include joint research projects, international seminars and conferences, collaborative publication, faculty and student exchanges, public lectures, internships, and combined field studies. The agreement also places strong emphasis on bolstering international research links and undertaking joint measures to boost the global rankings of both universities.

During the ceremony, representatives from Universitas Negeri Padang announced a full scholarship for an ASA University Bangladesh student at either Master’s or PhD level. This gesture is set to further solidify academic relations between the two institutions, creating valuable opportunities for students in global higher education.

The event welcomed Dr Mohibul Ahsan, Additional Director at the University Grants Commission (UGC), and Dr Hasib Mohammad Tuhar, Director of International Student Affairs at Patuakhali Science and Technology University, as special guests. Also ASAUB Treasurer Professor Dr A. K. M. Helal uz Zaman, Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Social Science Professor Dr Abu Daud Hasan, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Law Md. Saiful Alam, Registrar Md. Zafar Siddique, Acting Chair of Public Health Dr Jesmin Akhter, Acting Controller of Examinations Md. Waliul Bari, Assistant Registrar Mst. Zinat Tara, along with faculty members and university officers were present.

The five-year agreement took effect immediately upon signing. ASA University Bangladesh expressed confidence that this international partnership will unlock new possibilities in education, research, and innovation, whilst ushering in a fresh era of collaboration between Bangladesh and Indonesia’s higher education sectors.
