1st Convocation of ASA University Bangladesh (ASAUB) was held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center on 22 April 2013 in the morning. On behalf of Honorable President of Peoples Republic of Bangladesh and the Chancellor of ASA University Bangladesh, Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid, MP, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Education presided over the Convocation. Professor Emeritus Dr. Anisuzzaman, Dept. of Bangla, University of Dhaka was present as the Convocation Speaker while Vice Chancellor of ASAUB Professor Dr. Dalem Ch. Barman delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. Mr. Md. Shafiqual Haque Choudhury, Chairman, Board of Trustees, ASAUB reflected on the establishment of ASAUB.
Convocation speaker Professor Emeritus Dr. Anisuzzaman, University of Dhaka emphasized on building character and urged the degree recipients of the convocation to match their character with the awarded degrees. He advised them to follow the path of truth in life. He reminded the graduates that the cognitive power of the Bengalis is enough to reach the highest success.
Mr. Md. Shafiqual Haque Choudhury, Chairman, Board of Trustees, ASAUB said that our goal was to established such an educational institution where the members of lower middle income group and poor families would get an opportunity to have quality higher education. To realize this goal, ASAUB was established. At ASAUB, tuition fees were relatively low. Tuition fee waiver was given to meritorious, poor, women, indigenous students and the wards of freedom fighter.
Mr. Haque in his speech requested the Minister to exempt ASAUB from various taxes. He requested to allocate quota of foreign scholarships to the students of private universities and also to relax hard rules and regulations for development of private universities in Bangladesh
Professor Dr. Dalem Ch. Barman, Vice Chancellor of ASAUB informed that the vision of ASAUB is the creation of knowledge based society and mission is the implementation of relevant educational programs to meet the needs of twenty first century. This education program by producing skilled human resources with necessary moral and ethical development will play an important role for socio-economic development of the country and empowerment of people. Professor Dr.Dalem Ch.Barman advised the graduates to engage themselves in removing poverty and building happy and prosperous country. He also advised them to keep them free from corruption, nepotism and favoritism. He reminded them that whatever good work they would do would go to build a beautiful country for our progeny
Professor Md. Muinuddin Khan, Adviser of ASAUB gave vote of thanks to the participants of the Convocation.
It is to be mentioned that 19 hundred graduates would receive degrees in the first Convocation of ASAUB. For the best result Ms. Jhumka Rani Mandal of BBA and Md. Mohammad Mahmud Kabir of MBA received the Chancellors gold medals.2019
